I'm sure quite a lot of you saw this coming for sometime. I'd probably say easily for over a year, the site has slowly been deteriorating downhill. I've made several efforts to try and get some sort of updating going again, but then I always start slacking off again and my interest fades. Don't get me wrong, I still love anime but my heart just isn't with Dragonworld Z anymore.
When I first got into anime, Dragonball Z was what I was all about and what both Neko and I built the site around. Over the years, my interests have changed away from DBZ and into many more animes, which we slowly introduced to the site. While my love for DBZ quickly faded, my interest in the other animes still holds strong. It's been well over a year since I actually was willing to watch DBZ and I still don't even really have time to watch anime that I actually enjoy seeing.
Being in my third year of university, my main focus really needs to shift to school work. To support myself through school, I also have a part-time job, so my free time between work and studying is almost non-existant. It's not fair for the fans of DWZ to have to keep waiting for fanart and fanfiction updates, or any sort of reasonable content when I just don't have the time or much interest anymore. Neko's hard drive crashed several months ago, and she lost everything. For her to continue on with DWZ isn't exactly the most feasable thing for her to accomplish. I don't really want to speak on her behalf, but she's had no interest in DWZ for quite sometime, but tried to keep going for the fans. That can only take you so far...
Some of you may be thinking, "So that's it? You're just going to shut down Dragonworld Z and say goodbye?" Well, not exactly. While my interest isn't with DWZ, I still love anime and plan on making a more personal anime site more for my anime interests, mainly my fanart and my music videos (which I'm still making) as well as my Otakon pictures. Saturday People is holding strong and that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. As for Noraneko, I've spoken to Neko about it and am keeping it online for her to work on as she pleases, it's just a matter of her recovering her lost data, if that's possible.
I'm going to try to make an attempt to thank the people who I have been involved with because of Dragonworld Z. If I forget anyone, I'm truly sorry. These aren't in any particular order, just whoever comes to mind:
Neko: You mean the world to me. Without you, DWZ would have never held on as long as it has. I remember when we were excited that we had 20,000 hits on our page, and now the counter is inching up to 500,000. We've come a long way baby and I'll still be there for you in the future.
Anika: The sole reason DWZ exists. For those who don't know, Anika started the original DWZ 3 years ago, but lost interest in it, passing the site on to Neko and I. I know we've had our differences in the past, but look how far DWZ has come, thanks to you.
OSA: Ah, the first sort of "fangirl" I can remember. You're one of a kind. Meeting you at Otakon 2002 is one of those memories I'll never forget.
Meri and Mike: Yes, you two always come as a pair. I probably started out as some annoying kid trying to make amvs and be cool like you guys, and that's what I still am ^_^ You are my sole inspiration for starting to make music videos and have got me where I am today. Thanks for being there when I needed help with AMVs and always giving great opinions.
Dan: You're going to be great in the AMV world one day, just don't give up. You can never succeed if you don't try.
Mikata: Ah my little pirate monkey, everyone should have a friend like you. Saturday People is a hit all because of you. You rock my socks, and don't forget, "It could be worse... We could be in fucking Ohio..."
Poy: You've got serious artistic talent. You'll probably be famous for your art at some point in your life. Our late night drunken chats are something that I'll always remember.
Shiin: Another great artist. I remember when you showed me your early sketches and how much you've improved since then and never gave up. You're a great person ^_^
Milly: I kicked your ass at DDR XD Hope to do it again some day!
To all my friends outside of the Internet: Thank you for putting up with my obsession and constant anime babble even though it doesn't interest you.
To all the fans of DWZ: Thank you for everything you've done for the site. All the submissions, kind comments and e-mails over the years mean a lot to me.
To the message board regulars: You guys are psychotic. Really... You've left me laughing my ass off some nights, while other nights you've left me confused and bewildered as hell trying to figure out how you all seem to be thinking on the same wavelength.
In closing, DWZ isn't really going anywhere. The end result of DWZ is going to be three sites: My personal site, Saturday People, and Noraneko. As for when my site will be online, it's unknown. I haven't started it. If you're interested in downloading my music videos, you can find them on my animemusicvideos.org profile: here. Until then, "That's it for now, guyths ^_^"...
